This is a day old, but it looks like Be, Inc. — the maker of BeOS — finally bit the big one. All of its technology belongs to Palm, Inc. as of yesterday, and it only set them back $11 million. MacCentral has the story. Here’s the press release from Be’s website, which probably won’t be around for much longer. I remember attending a demo of BeOS back in 1997 at the Triangle Mac Users Group and being much impressed. The fact that they didn’t actually take over the world is not surprising, considering that people are just fine and dandy being owned by Microsoft (myself included — I stopped struggling this year).
