I just ordered Tori’s new CD through Cheap CDs; they have it for US$12.89, which is a bit less expensive than most on-line merchants.
Also: I’ve decided that Björk‘s new CD, Vespertine, is one of the most gorgeous pieces of music ever made. It most certainly is not Homogenic redux; there is nary a dancable track on the CD. Of course, your mileage may vary: if you can’t get past her elfin vocal delivery, you probably won’t agree with me. However, if you sit still, cock your head just right, and listen, it pays off handsomely.
Which reminds me: it seems like music these days is merely generated for entertainment. When is the last time that you sat down, put on some music and just listened? People stop their lives for TV Shows, books, or the Internet, yet seem to not be able to quiet down for a little bit to listen intently and take in a piece of music. I would argue that, given a choice, people should choose to sit down and listen to Spirit of Eden end-to-end instead of meditating on Chocolate Starfish and the Hot-Dog Flavored Water. But, of course, that’s snobbery. Or good taste. You decide.
