Anyone who has seen David Mamet’s play/movie Oleanna can understand why this send up of the famous scene between HAL 9000 and Dave Bowman in 2001: A Space Odyessy is so funny. Being that Oleanna was the first thing I saw by Mamet the Playwright (not counting the The Spanish Prisoner, which was at least written for the big screen first), I was not prepared for his extremely laborous dialogue that takes great pains in spelling every – last – thing out.
