Jon Katz writes about Browsing

Jon Katz writes about Browsing Alone. In his article, he uses the Robert Putnam book Bowling Alone: The Collapse and Revival of the American Community as a springboard. Putnam’s book is about the effect television — not the Internet — has had on Americans, but that does not stop Katz from speculating that the Internet has made the problem worse.

Regardless of how you feel about the issue he discusses, one thing is for sure: Katz does not bother to edit his posts before submitting them to Slashdot. There are bunches of spelling errors and grammatical howlers (what does “So is the epidemic hostility online.” mean?) strewn throughout his article.

By the way, this is one of the few times I’ve actually bothered to read the user comments on anything ever written on Slashdot; some of them are definately interesting, especially the thread(s) about Blogging.
