Trillian returns fire on AOL with version 0.725 of its chat client. This is about the sixth time in less than a month that they’ve re-enabled its users to access the AOL Instant Messenger network after being unceremoniably booted off the network by AOL. Let’s see how long this lasts.
You know, I hate AOL as a corporation. That said, the AOL Instant Messenger network is their baby, and they have every right to be jerks and keep other people from using their service. What is annoying, is that they can claim to allow other people to access their network via their outdated TOC protocol. However, to get all of the features like file transfer, buddy icons, chat, etc., you must use their bloated, banner-laden, marketing-driven client. An anology: imagine if the DOT made special roads that you could only access if you drove a Chevrolet. If you have a Ford, too bad; you have to drive on roads that are in sad shape and will never be maintained again.
