One Moment. Gone.

Someone needs to fix the intersection at Lake Boone Trail and Myron Drive. It seems like every other week there is a near miss at that intersection.

Just a few minutes ago, I heard a lot of screeching tires. I got up to look out the window. There was a mini SUV stuck in one of the oncoming traffic lanes. It was not moving. I couldn’t determine where the other car or cars involved in the accident were.

People drove by. Still the car didn’t move. Finally, a couple of people got out of their cars to see if the driver was alright.Soon, EMS, fire rescue, and police were on the scene. Finally, they pulled out of the car a middle-aged woman, wearing a neck brace. She was either (a) in shock, (b) paralysed, or © both.

In the midst of all this, I rushed downstairs and out in to the street. I got a look at the woman in the car, over the shoulders of one of the early responders. She was shaking and crying, just sitting there.

All it took was an instant. I hope she is alright.
