The music that Sigur Rós plays is beautiful and haunting all at once. On their 1997 album, Von (“Hope” in Icelandic), each song sounds as if it were recorded in a wide-open warehouse with the microphones placed far away from the musicians, allowing whatever Nordic spirits that were present to alter the sounds to their liking before they were committed to DAT. There are also glaciers present.
For some reason, this fits my mood this morning.
I suddenly have an urge to visit Iceland.
