I’m back!
Itenerary:
- York, PA (one night)
- Albion, NY (the in-laws)
- Dover, NH (stayed in the Silver Street Inn B&B – wonderful)
- Salem / Boston / Cambridge (daytrip)
- Newark, DE (for a night)
- Woodbridge, VA (for IKEA, just passing through)
- Home again!
Lessons learned:
- New York City drivers will use any asphalt available to drive on (evidence: driving the I-95 Cross Bronx Expwy to the George Washington Bridge — passing on the hard shoulder was common)
- Renaissance Festivals can be fun. Huzzah!
- No matter how hard I try, or how much I lead in the early hands, my mother-in-law will still beat me in rummy.
- New Hampshire is pretty cool. Live Free or DIE!
- IKEA is so bloody big. The whole time I was there, I was amusing myself with that scene from Fight Club running through my head.
- Sometimes, little unassuming motels aren’t so bad.
- It’s a really small world. Upon examining my driver’s license, the night watchman — from India, I think — at one of the little motels we stayed in indicated that his brother-in-law was practicing medicine in Raleigh. In fact, it turns out that he’s my doctor.
- Pictures rule. I have some. Maybe one day I’ll put them up.
Unrelatedly: I am having digital camera envy, and I really wish Foveon would get its big megapixel X3 sensors into a Canon or Nikon product soon.
It’s good to be home again. Now, off to work paid job hunting.
