Soundcard On the Cheap, Huckstering, and Other Nonsense

I can’t resist a good bargain.

I went over to Warp Computers over on Capital Blvd. and bought a used Sound Blaster PCI 128 for $10. I was a bit nervous about buying something that had been used, but the owner of the store told me that if it was DOA, I could bring it back within 24 hourse for store credit.

Anyways, I installed it, downloaded the most recent drivers, and it’s working like a champ. It suits my needs; it’s fine for listening to music and playing the occasional game. And, since I didn’t have the cool 5.1 equipment, the other options (esp. the Audigy) were just overkill.

Long story short: I can now listen to SmerpCAST! as I broadcast it on the new computer. Cool.

In other news, my Aeron chair sold for a whopping $622.00. Yowza! It’s like I have a new round of funding!
