That didn’t take long

Back on 14 May, Kottke noticed that Apple had left the barn door open on iTunes, which, with the right tools, turned it into a much sexier version of Napster. So, RIAA must have gone something like, “um, like, you totally screwed up!” and Apple was like “oop, my bad”.

This morning, Mac OS X’s Software Update cheerfully informs me that there is a new version of iTunes, which “… includes a number of performance and network access enhancements, and only allows music sharing between computers using iTunes 4.0.1 or later on a local network (in the same subnet).”

I wonder how many people won’t be installing this particular update.
