Approx. 5 cm

Michelle is now at 11 weeks, soon to be out of the first trimester. I went with her to the ObGyn today, thinking that tonight I’d have another picture to show off, but they didn’t bother capturing an image during the Ultrasound. It’s probably just as well; the resolution on this particular Ultrasound wasn’t as good as the one we had before, so the baby was pretty hard to see.

However, what we could see indicated a serious growth spurt. No exact measurement, but it looked like the baby was somewhere in the 5 cm range from crown to rump. And… ladies and gentlemen, our fetus—yes, it’s a fetus now—has bones (i.e. femurs, spine visible — you can tell they’re bones because they glow brighter on the Ultrasound’s monitor).

Also: I was able to see our baby’s heart beating. Even though it was nothing more than a flicker of grays on the monitor, it was a wonder to behold.
