Thanks to Hurricane Isobel, Wake County Public Schools have been closed. As I write this at work, Michelle is probably still asleep.
Last night, we saw a sneak preview of Under the Tuscan Sun, a movie based on the memoir of the same name by Frances Mayes. Verdict: pretty good for a chick flick.
Anyways, Michelle had picked me up from work last night, and we decided to leave my car at work for the evening. This morning, I decided to take the bus to work. This way, Michelle could have the car if there was an emergency, and she could sleep in. So I got online, checked out the maps, noted that the #1 bus (Capital Blvd.) could get me within 7-8 blocks of where I work. Not bad.
I caught the #1 bus at about 6:30 on Wake Forest Rd. (about 2 blocks from my house). That’s when learned that the system map on the CAT website was a bit out of date. I ended up going all the way to the new Triangle Town Center mall, then back inbound to meet the #24c connector bus, which took me to New Hope Church & Atlantic. This is sort of like flying from New York to Chicago via Los Angeles. I then hoofed it from that intersection to Ateb’s offices in the drizzle and wind. As the wind kept picking up, the umbrella I was carrying became useless, so I just walked in the rain for the rest of the way.
Anyways, I’m here, safe and sound, albeit a bit soggy.
