I’ve been trying my hardest to keep my mouth shut about the whole Wilson/Plame/leak affair, but after seeing yet another article about how the White House is uncertain if they’ll ever find person who exposed Ms. Plame’s identity to the world, I just can’t stay quiet anymore.
I’m supposed to sit here and believe that our President couldn’t have bothered to get out in front of this affair when it first broke back in June and clear his own administration of any wrongdoing? I mean, Bush is no stranger to bellicose and overreaching statements…why is he wussing out now? This is the same man who, when given a flightsuit to wear for a grossly stupid photo-op on an aircraft carrier, can say with certainty that we are winning the War on Terror (the jury is still out on that), or who, after 9-11, asserted that we will find Bin Laden dead or alive (over two years later, and we still don’t know for certain where he is)?
This is the administration that was supposed to bring responsibility back to the Oval Office. Now, for the second time (the first being who was responsible for the sixteen words about WMDs in the State of the Nation address), the White House and their supporters are playing duck-and-cover, shuck-and-jive, don’t-look-now-we’re-not-involved, shift-the-blame, and deny! deny! deny!
The more that the adminstration waffles, hems and haws about the affair, the guiltier it looks.
