Father's Day Weekend

Oh, it rocked. So much happening around here. I’ll hit the high notes:

  • iPod. Yes, I went ahead and bought a nice little refurbished 20 GB 3G model from the Apple Store. I saved over a Benjamin by doing so, and I have the same one-year limited warranty that I would have gotten had I bought a shiny new one. As far as I can tell, everything looks factory-new except for the dock, which has a few tiny scratches and nicks.
  • Backyard. I started cleaning out the backyard. Holy, holy, holy crap there is so much Virginia Creeper vine in my back yard. I am going to need a dump truck to get rid of all of it, and I’m still not close to being done. One cool thing, I happened upon a bird’s nest with three eggs intact; I went inside to grab the camera and returned to find one of the eggs in the middle of hatching!
  • Urushiol. That’s the “poison” in poison ivy. I was acquainted with that little chemical this weekend, as I obtained a dose from the aforementioned backyard adventures. See Scott scratch his right arm. Scratch, Scott, scratch.
  • Cookout. There was a small gathering of dads at my house. We made kabobs on the grill. The food was good, but something happened to the chicken we marinated; the marinade must have broken down the chicken somehow, because it turned into a gooey chicken paste. The oh-so-good bean salsa made up for it. Next year I’m just doing hamburgers.

All in all, a fun weekend.
