Lowering the Bar (after it has hit the ground)

Remember the Swift Boat Vets for “Truth”? Theeeeey’re back, and now they’re called USANext. In case you forgot how slimy these guys are, peep their latest banner ad, fresh from the American Spectator website:

!/sprocket/images/33.gif (The Stupidest Banner Ad You’ll See This Year)!

I can see it now: “The AARP: Anti-Troops, Pro Sodomy!”

And, if that’s not bad enough, there’s a hilarious message board where you can tell USANext that you support their opposition to the big, whiny, über-Liberal AARP1.

Be amazed by such poetic testimonials from semi-illiterate people like Wayne B. from Smithtown:

“Their magazine is full of liberal propagander [sic], making it obvious they have a selfish agenda.”

Or, Dopn [sic] Danner from Wenatchee, WA:

They recently sent a petition asking for my wife and I to sign to fight against the President’s Social Security plan. I replied with a letter accusing them of being a Socialistic outfit.

You go, Dopn!!! FIGHT TEH POWER!!!

David L DeFrees from Leavenworth:

1. bogus surveys designed to promote a hidden liberal agenda 2. actively promoting liberal causes like gay marriage

Guess that banner ad buy worked.

Finally, there is Stephen Cox from Franklin:

Everyone in America knows that Social Security is going broke but AARP who have their head stuck in the sand with their self interests. We need to make the fix now while we have a president and a congress with the gonads to make the tough choices.

That’s right, folks. Our President has balls.

Feh.

1 Of course, comments are pre-vetted, just like our President’s pep rallies town hall meetings. If you leave a comment, you’ll get the following disclaimer:

IMPORTANT: By clicking submit, you are authorizing USA Next to post your comments, name, and city on their website. It can take up to 48 hours for comments to be posted publicly.

I suppose leaving a message like “SHUT UP YOU MOUTHBREATHING IDIOTS” won’t make the cut.
