At the moment that I wrote this, Mac OS X 10.4 is ranked “#1 at Amazon.com in Software and Electronics”. It has an average customer review rating of five stars.

I find this a bit amusing because it hasn’t even shipped yet.

I think I’m going to give 10.4 a miss. I bought 10.3 (“Panther”) when it came out and really loved it. Same with iLife ‘04. This time, I’m going to save the $129 + $49 for Tiger and iLife ’05 and put it towards a new Powerbook, which will come with both.

Note that the number #2 ranked software purchase at Amazon.com is Norton Internet Security 2005 for Windows… a purchase driven out of a need rather than desire.
