The Morning Goosebumps

I’ve been a fan of Dead Can Dance from way back, and so it surprises me that a) I didn’t hear that they were touring again and b) that they have teamed up with The Show to make high-quality recordings of their recent concerts.

According to the DCD Discs site:

We take a digital, unmixed feed from the board at each show and then go into a studio and painstakingly master the mix before making discs. The results are amazing and far superior to almost every live recording or bootleg you’ve ever heard.

Well, they certainly aren’t lying (scroll down; if you have Quicktime installed — and you really should — you’ll see a little embedded player). While hearing Lisa Gerrard sing never, ever fails to send shivers up my spine, the fact that “Nierika” (from Spiritchaser) sounds this good in MP3 format makes me really want one of these discs for myself. Did I mention that the packaging is gorgeous?

Too bad that it’s a limited edition and they are sold out.

DCD will be coming stateside this Fall. Closest date to NC is 10 October in Washington DC.

BTW, Pixies also worked with The Show on their 2004 and 2005 concerts including their show in Raleigh (it’s noted on their weblog that this was the band’s favorite show of the 2005 tour).
