One thing that most Democrats and Republicans seem to agree upon is that the Kelo decision really sucked for private property rights.
However, as Mark Kleiman points out, no one seems to remember (or care) that W — then the governor of Texas — did pretty well for himself by financing the Texas Rangers stadium on the public’s dime via a half-cent gasoline tax and that a small part of the 270 acre stadium complex was condemned by the City of Arlington under eminent domain when the landowners became uncooperative and refused to sell their land.
Now, to be sure: W didn’t personally come in and take the land himself. But the mere fact that was a prime mover in this deal should be enough to raise a stink over, right?
Of course, you won’t hear anything about it on talk radio or Right Blogistan because the person in question isn’t named Clinton or Kerry.
