Brushed Metal Will Be Played By Tom Cruise in the Upcoming Full-Length Feature

For those of you who have downloaded the latest release of iTunes, you may have noticed that it looks a bit, ahem, different.

John Gruber, who has noticed that Apple has adopted the “do-as-I-say-not-as-I-do” attitude when it comes to obeying their own Human Interface Guidelines, has written a great little drama starring the former iTunes look-and-feel. Hilarious.

Personally, I like the new look, but John’s point is valid: stop screwing around with the damn skinning already and stick with something for longer than one release (this mainly applies to the Finder in OS X, which has changed drastically in each point release ). Previous releases of Mac OS didn’t change appearances at the drop of a hat (or on Steveness’ whims). In fact, aside for some minor font changes, the windowing style from System 6 to Mac OS 9 was pretty darn similar.
