Two things:
- Rafe, if you ever need some time to sort your thoughts, I have a yard you can mow. I am cursed with being somewhat monkey-minded, and mowing the grass, seeing the state of my yard (weedy, neglected) just makes me anxious and annoyed. I chalk this up to personal failure.
- I have found that I tend to write code more slowly than my peers. I would like to think that this is because I tend to be cautious in what I write, knowing that every shortcut I take will come and bite me in the arse later on. But the biggest reason I tend to be careful is that I am working in code designed by someone else, and, just like remodeling a home, you have to respect the space you’ve been given to work with. Still, this is a cause for much envy and consternation when comparing what I’m able to accomplish in a week versus my peers.
