No Time For Blog, Dr. Jones

“Silent blog. Lonely blog. All is calm…”

So, what have I been doing all this time?

Mastering Javascript.

Once upon a time, I thought that Javascript was for weenies, and I swore up and down that I’d never write any Javascript if I could help it. Well, times have changed. I’m spending a good deal of my work time futzing about in Javascript, learning about prototyping, namespacing, and lots of other nifty stuff. It’s actually quite fun to program in, and I’m finding myself agreeing more and more with Mr. Crockford: Javascript is misunderstood. (It also doesn’t hurt that the state of debugging tools has come a long way in just 18 months. Firebug is awesome.)

While I have been using MochiKit at my day job, I’m really intrigued by jQuery. That said, I’ll probably never get around to messing with it, unless I end up using it in the line of work. Speaking of work…

Work, Work, Work.

rPath is a busy place these days. There is absolutely no shortage of things to do, and scant time available to do them all. So it goes.

Did I mention we’re hiring? Send your résumé already!

Domesticity.

Still talking about remodeling and adding on to the house. This is nothing new, as we’ve been talking about it for years. This time, we’ve actually started the financial process (i.e. figuring out what we can afford). At some point, we’ll need to talk to an architect (or three) and get some estimates.

LinuxWorld Expo in San Francisco.

Did some booth work, and spent some time with Michelle a few days before the show to do some sightseeing. I have pictures, they just need to be weeded through and uploaded.

And…

Hugs

That’s about it, really.
